The Week 2 Results Are In
Firstly - thanks for reading!!
Well, team Opal Grind,
Here we are—two weeks into my website launch for The Opal Grind, and I’m currently sitting at a thrilling total of…..zero sales (aside from a few no reserve auctions on a Facebook sellers group) But honestly? I’m totally fine with it. I’m not in a rush to sell anything. I’m all about savouring the journey and taking each week as it comes.
Life has been busier than a coffee shop on a Monday morning, with my day job keeping me on my toes and leading to some late nights. Not enough time with my kids or husband, let alone my rocks!! Huge shoutout to my husband for holding down the fort while I flit between my desk, meetings, events in my truest chaotic fashion. There was even a mum win, when I sent my 4y/o to school in uniform, on free dress day… IYKYK
As I dive deeper into the opal industry, I can’t help but ponder how many people out there are successfully selling their opals at prices they feel comfortable with. And how they do it!! Based on what I see and hear, it seems like a challenge that spans from miners who may feel undervalued for their hard work to dealers, cutters, and jewellers navigating the market. It’s a bit of a mystery at this stage. It’s so on brand for me to find a hobby I like and decide I need to help the entire industry in some way 🤣 I can barely help myself most days!!
I am VERY excited to be working on some commission pieces for a local opal collector. There’s just something special about crafting beautiful treasures for others. Bonus that I get to work on such beautiful pieces without the investment. I’ve also been going back through some stones I've cut in the past and reworking them. Things like re-polishing, reshaping etc. Quite satisfying, fixing your own F-ups.
And here’s the scoop: I am working on 3 new jewellery pieces, and I can’t wait to get them up for you all to see! With spring in the air, I’m looking forward to a weekend with the family, soaking up the sunshine and heading to Ascot for a Raceday - hopefully I manage to keep it tidy 🤣
So while my sales may be non-existent for now, I’m truly enjoying this journey and all the little moments that come with it. Life might have its chaotic moments, but that’s what it’s all about. Imagine if it were boring!
Thanks for being part of this ride with me! Stay tuned for all the new opal creations coming soon!
Keep up the grind,
Bailey ✨
